Innocent – set me free

11475-set-me-freeI walk the narrow line, try not to step out and keep straight.
The man walks and follows me – counting each step and each time I exhale.
I was innocent -set me free.

I sit by a screen for too many hours of my life – I try to do my best in all I do.
The man walks and follows me – listening to each word I say and each word I type.
I was innocent – set me free.

False promises, lies and misguided dreams of glory.
Self-proclaimed messiahs all with the same old story.
Can you read those words etched into my eyes – set me free, set me free.

When I was a child I dreamed and had high hopes for myself.
These days I sleep to escape and I avoid any hope or praise.
I walk alone surrounded by love – no one can see me, no one can see me.

I walk the narrow line, try not to step out and keep straight.
The man walks and follows me – counting each step and each time I exhale.
I was innocent -set me free.

I am on the wet streets tonight, reflections of an old man in a stained glass.
The river runs beside me and a lost dog cries out for love.
I am searching for answers – looking up above.

I walk the narrow line, try not to step out and keep straight.
The man walks and follows me – counting each step and each time I exhale.
I was innocent -set me free.

  1. Funny, I clearly see myself in “Set Me Free” ! I’m much older than you and tend to think much about how I could have done things differently so that the results could have been different. Looking into the mirror and not recognizing the guy looking at me. Sometines when I read your writings, I’m thinking is this writer reading me. HaHaHa! keep writing. I see you publishing. Check out Hay House Publishing. These people published Dr. Wayne Dyer . Your writings would fit with them. Just saying ! Break a Leg !
